    .

    This combo is wicked lol.

When you mirror the screen the MB screen becomes 4k as well (in 16:9). The letters are tiny! And the normal pointer speed setting takes forever to scroll around the screen.

Since I am able to read the screen from the couch I may be forced to get a Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad ....... :D

Does that adapter charge as well as output to HDMI?

Looks like the Apple Multiport Adapter, so yes...if you connect a USB-C charge cable to it too.

Brilliant ! This is where 4K works, not on a squidgy little screen on a laptop.

The laptops will likely run scaled to 1920x1080 for retina quality.

    It works on both.

Does the macbook need to be 'open' or can the lid be closed whilst outputting to the tv?

When I closed it everything went kaput. Later investigation seems to indicate that some sort of input device needs to be connected (by bluetooth is ok) like a keyboard or touchpad.

    Then it should stay active.

Didn't know the HDMI on that adapter would support 4k!
