It is best to cycle the battery periodically. I don't have a link handy, but there is a whole page of battery tips on Apple's support pages.

yeah, you could do that, you just need to unplug your computer or take it for a walk every once in a while to keep the battery in shape.

However I don't understand why you would want a laptop to be a desktop. Buying a normal desktop would be faster option, wouldnt it? Save money with a mini or space with an iMac.

i do the same thing, the reason i decided to do this was so that i could have a nice size screen for movies, pictures and such and also the portability of it to take it with me to class.. don't regret it for a sec best decision ever

or you can take the battery out but cycleing is the best for a while than take it out

Yeah, I would say just take the battery out. BUT -- I am letting my mom use my MacBook now (I have a MBP which I use too)...and the battery is in the unit, and the power is hooked up 24/7, it's been sitting there for nearly a year hooked to power and it's never crashed. 19" Xerox LCD and iMac keyboard hooked to the unit. It's used for internet access in the downstairs of our house.
