Using Mbox with Garageband

I'm using a OS X 10.4.8. I have the Standalone Digidesign Core Audio installed. I have changed the Audio input in Garageband to the Mbox. I get nothing. Is it not possible to use the Mbox with my set up? Any help is most appreciated!
