I am confused myself and dont know how to put it. I will try maybe someone will get me.
So I have an Apple ID which I use for all my purchases, when I try to set up iCould I also used this Apple ID and everything worked just fine. I log in to icloud.com and try to activate my e-mail in iCloud, the service informs me that I need to activate the e-mail in Lion or iOS, I go to system preferences iCloud and here we start. It prompts me to create free me.com emila, but I do have me.com emial which I created as a part of mobileme free trial. I would like to signe in this email address but it seems I cannot use existing me.com email.
Am I missing an obvious solution? I did try mobileme.com/move, no luck here either.
