I understand the usefulness of it but who really uses it? Because I'm confused.

I'm actually trying use it to set up some location and it's not working the way I'm thinking it's suppose to. Can anyone clear this up?

I have 3 locations (Home, Work, Public)

Home:
I use airport but sometimes I plug in the ethernet cable (i.e if wireless acting up, etc). So I have just the two services on the left side with ethernet on top as I would like that to have priority when connected. A few settings such as Not asking to Join network and remembering networks.

Work:
I use ethernet connection and sometimes bluetooth tethered to my phone. So I have ethernet and bluetooth services. I don't have any special setting requirements because we use DHCP to get all the required info.

Pubilc:
I have ethernet, airport services, and bluetooth services and in that priority order. I have some settings in the airport advance settings such as not remembering the network, disconnecting from wireless when logging off and requiring administrator password to control airport. Probably a proxy or vpn setting in the future. Any other suggestions for this one?

Now when I get to work and set the work location, I would like airport to be turned off as that would save battery when I'm moving around and also prevent unnecessary searching for networks. And now when I try to turn on and off airport, it asks me for Administrator's password every time. I only set this condition for Public but it's asking me regardless on which location I've set it.

Thanks.

I guess this is suppose to go into the general help forum.

My bad.

Can moderator move please.
Thanks
