So GMail now has IMAP support and instructions for the iPhone

https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77702

They also have Google Apps for your domain, which allows you to use your own domain for e-mail and Google Talk. Has anybody successfully set up the two togeather? Are you able to get push mail through GMail with your own domain now?

I've been holding off buying an iPhone untill my current phone breaks. If this works though, it might be enough to make me go out and grab one finally.

I have IMAP for my personal email account, but not yet for my domain.

I would expect IMAP for Google Apps to come, but I'm not holding my breath. Features seem to take quite a long time to make it over.

Very much looking forward to it, though.

oh well. Hopefully they will get this going, and Apple will release a 16GB iPhone, and my current phone will bite the dust all on the same day.

And hopefully that day will be in about a week.

I've got Google Apps on a few sites and it just appeared as an option for one of them. Works like a charm with Apple Mail!

Just set it up with my older gmail account. My newest, main account doesn't currently have the option yet. I've never set up an IMAP account before, seems nifty though.

Taking awhile to sync up over dial-up.

Well, here's to hoping that Apps gets it pretty soon!

EDIT: Looks like I spoke too soon! besler3035 already has it for one of theirs!

hmm..neither of my Gmail accounts are showing the POP/IMAP choice...only POP. I guess maybe it's been implemented only on some accounts at this point?

Seems as though they are rolling it out chronologically. My older account that is a few years old has it while my newer 6 or so month old account does not.

I've also heard mention that if you sign out then back in the option may show up.

Interesting, it seems like they arent activating all emails, even with in the same domain. One of our email addresses has been activated but none of the others.

ya, i created mine in july and i have IMAP.... maybe alphabetically???
its probably more likely to be what server your username and related files are being hosted on, theres no way of telling that, but they are probably installing imap settings server by server. they did the same with google talk etc.

FYI: gmail's support site claims they are rolling out IMAP for ALL ACCOUNTS in the next few days. Two of mine just got it this afternoon and I'm waiting on the third...

I see the video on you tube about how to set it up for the iphone, but will I have to re-set up my mac mail on my computer as well, becasue right now it is pop. Not really sure how to ask this question, but would I need to cancel the account in the mac mail app and add a new account that would be imap?

Gmail just added IMAP. Yesterday. (Or maybe the day before.)

I have it for both my @gmail.com accounts, but neither of my "Google Apps for your Domain" domains have it yet. (At least, it's not on my main account on either domain, I haven't checked the other accounts.)

As for the "alphabetic" theory... One account starts with 'e', and was created in 2004, the other starts with 'p', and was created in 2005. They both had IMAP yesterday evening.

Any update from anyone?

All of my gmail addresses now have imap but under apps for your domain its only given access to a single address.

"Gmail username" in IMAP for Domains

This wasn't mentioned before in the thread, but I was stumped on it for a few minutes:

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=75726

That has the various configuration settings, but for userid, you must use the full name of the address, so like 'user@googleappshosted.domain.com' and then imap.gmail.com for the server. Your "Gmail username" is the whole address.
