Using phone to unlock watch much slower since updates

I was hoping..meanwhile almost every time I take the mask off , iPhone requires to enter the password

Actually unlocking the phone when wearing a mask is pretty reliable for me, but there are also plenty times when I hold the phone odd, pick it up when it’s laying on a table screen up that I get the iPhone unlocked with watch message…
What has gotten far less reliable in particular over the past 2 or 3 weeks is unlocking the watch first thing in the morning…

The phone unlocking the watch has been hit or miss for me. It says 'unlocking' yet sometimes does not.

14.8 is out. Any update on this issue?

Mine seems to be a little better. Recently had problems with watch unlocking my phone though. Had to turn the setting off and on again to get it to work again.

My experience is this is fixed in watch os8 and ios 15. Sometimes it takes about a minute but way better than before.

Not fixed for me unfortunately with iOS 15 and iPhone 12 Pro

I'm sorry, my 12 pro +14.8.1 is pretty fast. I don't even have to scroll up the iPhone window
I just turn my wrist up, so that the watch wakes up and so does the iPhone
and I see the quick note on the iPhone top that the iPhone has been unlocked

It's been working a little better (the watch unlocks faster) since the latest updates. I've noticed that it seems to work almost perfectly if the watch has been on the wrist for 20+ seconds before unlocking the phone ...
