Can I use the RAM from a new 2012 13" MBP in a mid-2009 13" MBP? I want a cheaper upgrade of the new MBP (compared to apple's price for a 8 GB upgrade) and upgrade my old MBP simultaneously. I have read that DDR3 RAM will run at the speed of the controller, as long as it is <= to the speed of the RAM, but this is a big jump (1600 MHz -> 1066 MHz). Anyone try this?

It'll be fine.

Wrong. My Mid 2010 13" refuses to even POST with anything other than 1066mhz and my Mid 2009 15" 2.66ghz is very unstable with anything over 1066mhz. This memory is confirmed good and works fine in my 2011 13".

Some people report it works, some say it doesn't. I know I am not alone with having stability issues with 1333mhz or higher in a 2009 15".
