I have a third party stick of ram, 1gb, that I am currently using in my Powerbook. Yet I am getting a new MBP with the one slot of 1gb ram, and looking to put 2gb in it. Will I be able to simply swap my third party 1gb stick out of my powerbook and use it fully in my MBP? Do they use a different type of RAM? The guy at the apple store told me that this is not possible, as the ram in the MBP is a faster type of ram and the powerbook ram is not compatible? I just wanted to check here too... thanks

so what sort of important things should i be looking out for in the MBP ram as opposed to the powerbook ram? i just don't want to get the wrong 1gb stick for my MBP

As others have pointed out, you sadly can not use the RAM from your PowerBook G4 in your new MacBook Pro. 😱

Check out www.datamem.com for some great prices on RAM for your MBP. 🙂
