Hi All,

Sidecar - Great idea, to keep using the ipad as much as possible if I get a macbook. Question is how?

Be good to get a small macbook, so more portable and usable everywhere. Then just plug into a large monitor for all day work etc.

I watched a few you tube clips for inspiration.

I came across this one, the chat did not Have a “Must do spreadsheets” workflow, and his side car set up was the other way around.

Interesting stuff :)

Hi All,

I just tried to do this with my Ipad 12.9 on my H/w setup.
(M1 MBA > Dell USB-C Hub > External monitor, keyboard, mouse).

I was hoping to have it all connected up, so I could have the iPad front and centre.
Possible uses:
1. I could take notes on the Ipad, as I watch on-line tutorials etc.
2. I could try and use the iPad keyboard instead of the Windows external keyboard I have

For my use case, it was all bit of a faff unfortunately:
1. Bluetooth/WIFI Connection - Wireless really hit and miss
2. Wired connection - needed to be directly to USB-C of MBA. The USB-C connections of the Dell USB-C hub did not work
3. Finally - Forgot - the IPAD MK does not have the function keys! Gosh I really missed them until I finally got my 1st MacBook!)

Oh well, I may try again another time, when I have more desk space.
Hope the above experiences help other.

Best Wishes
Martin

Hi All,

In my quest for an external keyboard for the MBA, I had a brainwave - come back to this sidecar idea!

Unfortunately, Sidecar has a bug which scuppers my use case. Looking on the internet it is a known fault.

Sigh, still not fixed even though reported to apple a year ago!

Hope this info helps others
