If I pair this display with both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Studio, can I toggle inputs to switch between two computers? I currently have the 14" MacBook Pro as my work computer, and I bought the studio to replace my home iMac. Typically I like to use both computers for different purposes.

I'm wondering if I would need to remove the cable to switch between the machines, or if I can use two cables and toggle.

Thunderbolt 4 KVM is currently vapourware. #558

I think Apple could make a Thunderbolt Target Display Mode method to make it possible to switch the display. This is more complicated than what was in the old iMacs that had this feature because the display may require two DisplayPort HBR2 connections for 5K 60Hz, and the display is not directly connected to the host Thunderbolt controller (there's an extra hop in the path). In the old iMac, the host controller was Thunderbolt 1, and the display was directly connected to the host controller using only one HBR connection. I don't know if the Intel Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 or Apple Silicon host controllers support cross domain DisplayPort paths. Plus, the switch might be able to include all the features of the display (those that require USB / PCIe).

Apple's history though suggests they have little interest in target display mode
