Using the Apple tv without a TV

I have two questions...

1) I am hoping to connect an Apple TV to my DAC and stream Audio to my stereo system via the wired network; possibly using an Ipad to select the music, is this possible?

2) research shows that the apple TV is software limited to 44khz/16bit, any talk of enabling 96khz/24bit streaming?

You would be better off with an airport express with it's optical out.

If you actually need 96k/24b chances are the AppleTV isn't right for you in the first place...
