Hey all,

Probably, this topic has been discussed multiple times, but I would like to talk about it anyway.

First of all, which clients do you use for email, there are several out there. Just wanted to see what people use, in case I am missing something, or someone is using something that I have not heard of before.

I currently use SparkMail, which seems to have the best interface and overall design, however privacy concerns. The good thing is though if you log in to the account once, and other clients, the account travels with you across all devices with all other accounts you added and no need to re-setup.

There are some concerns though, that messages are downloaded on SparkMail servers, which poses potential security issues.

I am very tempted to use Mac OS mail, it's clean, it's simple, but there is one thing that bugs the hell out of me.

Attachments.

For example, if my dad sends me a picture, and he would just attach it as an icon on his webmail service, no matter what, Apple Mail will show it to me in the email body. If my sister sends me a document, in PDF for example from WEB or Outlook, Mac Os mail will again show it to me in the email body.

That approach is bad when you have clients or other people next to you, they can get a glimpse at the document.

Has anyone found a way around it that works on Big Sur? I just think we should be able to choose how we view attachments, in preview or as icons (the normal way)

??? Files and PDFs that I receive are not opened, though don't know the originating mail servers. Is it just WEB or Outlook emails that have this problems? Does it happen with mail sent from Apple Mail?

That is annoying. Even this guy's plugin doesn't seem to work (at least the Mojave version doesn't for me)…although its description would lead you to believe it would:

It actually isn't a big deal to me because I'm not opening mail in public as you are. What bugs me over and over is that I have "Load remote content" unchecked but sometimes the remote content is down in the body of the email and I have to scroll back to the top of the message to click the button then scroll back down to continue. Better would be a button on the always-visible toolbar.

The Terminal command DOES work.

defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes

BUT you have to give Terminal Full Disk Access first.

System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Full Disk Access and make sure Terminal is checked. Then restart terminal and run the command, then restart Mail app and BOOM!

Full Disclosure, it took me WAY to long to figure this out.

Hey! Thanks. Did try that, did everything as you said. Still displaying the .pdf's as inline in email body.
