Under windows XP Pro on my 2.2 MBP, while accessing the DVD-Rom drive for anything, browsing directories, installing something, playing/burning a DVD or ripping a CD, the computer cannot playback audio. It comes out so skippy and jumpy that you cannot recognise speech. It also slows down typing input, mouse movement, and makes video playback skippy.

Does anyone else have this problem, and have you found any way to fix it? Thank you.

EDIT: Another thing: using the DVD-Rom hangs up my soundcard (M-Audio Firewire 410), and I have to restart the computer to get sound to work again.
