If you were wondering, the large Smart Keyboard works fine with the 9.7" iPad Pro. I had the 12.9", so had the keyboard. I am selling the large Pro but I'm going to keep the keyboard for typing at home, as it's quite comfortable and works great in the lap with the little Pro. I have the little keyboard for out and about and wouldn't get the large keyboard if I didn't already have it, but it's worth not selling. Typing this right now on the big keyboard.

Can you take some photos of this set up? I'm wondering how the lap support works in terms of the giant cover 'propping up' the smaller iPad.
Can't provide pictures, but it lean a tiny bit more toward the back than the big Pro. There's about a quarter inch gap at the base.
