Using the MBP's trackpad as a mouse

I had an idea today...

Would it be possible to use the glass trackpad outside a MBP? I'd like to inlay one into my desk.

Anyone know where I could find more info on this matter?

Buy a magic trackpad, integrate it into your desk. Would look cool but would have a hard time changing batteries.
