so by not being MFI certified, it would be a similar risk to buying a cheap cable that could work but could als catch fire? Is there anything about the specs that could be looked at to determine how safe it might be?

I just use a power strip with the adapters plugged in, routed up through a little hole I drilled in my nightstand.

I use this one under my computer desk to connect five macs, Zenbook and a desk lamp.

I still use the Apple provided power adapters and cables. Bought an extra power adapter and cable for office, routed it up through the desk.
