I currently have a wireless network set-up through Comcast. I have a Netgear modem/router from Comcast. I just purchased Time Capsule and I would prefer to use TC as my wireless network router instead of the Netgear modem/router. Do I need to have Comcast supply a new modem without the router or is there a way to connect TC and the Netgear modem without using the built-in router?

I have the standard Comcast Scientific Atlanta modem connected to my Time Capsule. It works perfectly. The modem, Time Capsule and Brother laser printer are out of sight in a closet. Two Macs and one PC access the network and the printer via this setup.

If you can disable the router on your current hardware that should work but the simple modem would be a better solution.

I agree that the simplest way is just to have Comcast replace the combo modem/router with a straight modem. I opted to just purchase a Motorola Surfboard modem since it was on their "approved" list of modems for my area and didn't care for their monthly rental fee on the modem I originally got from them, but the ones they provide work fine too. A modem only probably has a lower monthly rental fee than the combo deal too so might as well exchange it.
