Hi, I have an alienware desktop with 1TB RAID 0 for general purposes and a new-generation 13" Macbook Pro (4GB/GeForce 320M/250GB).

Anyways I provided this information to help with a question. Can I create a shared folder on my Desktop and set Time Machine to back up to it over the network?

Thanks!

(ignore the computers in my signature that was when I first registered here im gonna update it)

Yes, I do this. See this link:

BUT - be warned. You essentially can not do a full restore as the boot CD does not support SMB in order to connect to your backup and restore. I essentially have to use it for that opps, file roll back or retrieve situation. Some folks install OSX, boot, connect SMB and then use the settings migration tool, but I was always leery that the tool wasn't a full restore rather a subset.
