Using Time Machine With Cloned HD

I just cloned my new HD using CCC and was wondering if it was possible to reuse my time machine drive with the cloned HD without time machine doing a full backup?

Just tried it and it didn't work.

This is a very annoying issue. Time Machine doesn't even continue doing incremented backups when restored from Time Machine itself.
