Using Trigger finger interface with logic 8

I have the m-audio trigger finger but i cannot get it to assign anything to the pads... it randomly plays on two pads... and i have no trouble assigning parameters to the knobs and faders...

I'm really confused can anyone walk me through how to get this to act normal?

I'm using logic 8 and i have a macbook pro with the latest leopard version... also any help on assigning pads in ableton to would be wonderful.
