Have an old PC tower (no USB-C), most convenient site to charge my Apple Watch... using USB-A puck I have from before. Any issues or harm charging the 9 with this? Or do I have to use the braided USB-C puck that comes with it?

On another note, I did try the charging the 9 with USB-C cable plugged into other computer (laptop) port and it charged pretty quickly. I thought it needed to be plugged into wall for this. I would use the laptop but it is not in a convenient location and USB C port is already taken up to charge iphone.

The only “harm” it would do by charging via USB-A is it will be charged slower. That’s it. USB-C supports higher level of power delivery, provided that cable meets relevant specifications. So your watch is charged faster under USB-C.

And charging doesn’t care much about where the power is from, as long as it can be provided properly. You can just plug a brick to wall and charge it using USB-C cable just as fast. No harms done.

I charge my Ultra2 on the puck that came with my S0, every other night and it’s just fine

I intentionally charge my series 9 with the old 5 watt wall charger that came with my series 5 and leave the fast charger that came with my newer watch in the drawer. Fast charging is more detrimental to long term battery health than slow charging, and since I charge overnight (with optimized charging enabled), there is no upside to fast charging for my use case.

Same! I still kept the charger from my Apple Watch Series 1 and bring it for travel or work, in my laptop bag. I use the newer charger in my charging station for my iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods, as the ones that come with the stainless steel ones have a nicer feel.

Y’all the S1 and earlier Apple Watch chargers can still charge your newer Apple Watch models fine, just that it is a bit longer than the newer ones. My Apple Watch uses Optimized Battery Charging/Limit only if I charge my watch frequently.
