Using USB-C display without charging Macbook Pro 2016

Is there a way to use my LG 27UD88-W display with my 2016 15 inch MacBook Pro (with touchbar) without charging it? I don't think it a good thing to charge it even when it's (almost) full of battery. Any ideas?

With modern batteries and battery management you will not harm your system by leaving it plugged in.
