So if I go to Best Buy or Apple Store to buy a phone at full price and all they have are AT&T or Verizon, either one then will work just the same no matter what SIM I drop into it? I thought Verizon was the most universal version and better than AT&T?

If you buy an att iPhone device only at best buy. It will be locked out of the box and you will have to request to get it unlocked provided that you have the receipt that you purchased it full price. There may be a 60 day wait period.

If you buy an att iPhone device only at the Apple Store then yes it will be unlocked out of the box.

As for Verizon. I believe no matter where you buy it whether from apple or best buy or Verizon retail it should be unlocked out of the box whether you are in a contract or not.

How

How do I order a Verizon UNLOCKED full price non contract phone online at the Apple site? Every time is gets to a screen where it asks if I am adding a line, and existing customer, or a new customer. I cannot get by that without selecting one option. All options lead to a Verizon contract.

Can someone tell me how I can purchase from Apple online a full price Verizon iphone 6 plus without getting into a contract?

Almost certain it's gotta be done in-person at a store at this stage.

Currently you have to buy the phone on contract online. There isn't an option to buy full price (unless you are already a verizon customer and isn't eligible for an upgrade then I believe it should give you the option to buy it full price).

Otherwise you will have to go to your local apple store and see if they have any in stock. You can also use the online checker to see if they have anything in stock. You can also call your local apple store and see if they have received anything.

You can also use the online checker to see if they have anything in stock.

The online stock checker isn't a useful tool to determine if they have a device they'll sell you in-person. A NYC store showed devices in-stock for online-order with in-store pickup. I went to the store, trying to buy one of those devices in-person, and the salesperson said she couldn't sell it to me - that it had been allocated exclusively for online ordering.

I plan on getting a T-Mobile 6 Plus online, as I don't want to keep going to the Apple Store to see if they have the Plus in stock from any carrier (minus Sprint). I own a Verizon 5, but have recently switched to AT&T. If I buy a T-Mobile or device-only AT&T 6 Plus and a year from now decide that I want to go back to Verizon, I realize that I can activate a new SIM on the V5 and put it in the 6 Plus, but will the 6 Plus have all the capabilities that it should have, such as VoLTE? From what I've read, although the chipset in the 5 supports VoLTE, it hasn't been enabled. When Verizon activates the SIM, does it say "You're a 5, you don't have VoLTE, so I'm not going to enable it at my end", thereby making VoLTE on my 6 Plus unavailable?

OK now I read your thread and it states:

T-Mobile A1549 / A1522 GSM
Unlocked: If purchased from Apple Store at Full Price It will be unlocked -- EIP / contract pricing not available via Apple Store / Apple.com
Locked: If purchased from a T-Mobile retail store whether financing or at full retail price or via 3rd party store on T-Mobile contract/financing plan. Phone will be LOCKED.
Carrier: T-Mobile allows you to request an unlock for your phone after 40 days of service with the carrier. Unlock works for any GSM carrier. US and other countries.
Will it work?: Yes This model will work on AT&T / T-Mobile and all MVNO networks that use AT&T / T-Mobile towers + All other GSM networks worldwide.

So according to your information the TMobile Unlocked phone does NOT work on the Verizon CDMA network?

It can accept a Verizon SIM card that has already been activated however Verizon will not officially activate a SIM with it so meaning you will be required to keep a "Paper Weight" unit around for the life time of that SIM because Verizon will not activate 1 ESN/IMEI with 2 SIM Cards and the T-Mobile iPhones IMEI is not officially supported due to the fact that Verizon does not enter their IMEI into its own database.

So in simple answer NO because now with the new iPhone models its not about the phone supporting or not, its about the carrier that makes the decision at the end of the day especially when it comes to CDMA networks.

Verizon and Sprint are in control of their devices and IMEI's, they will not enter any IMEI into their database that was not purchased from them or officially for their network.

At the end of the day this is irrelevant information and much like I said earlier the "Cost to educate the customer is too high" much like explaining this.

So if you want a device that supports Verizon / T-Mobile and AT&T out of the box with 100% Full Network Capabilities then go and buy the Verizon iPhone 6/6+ model like I did for my self.

You can reserve it online with Apple by creating a new account and singing up for a 2 year contract and choose "Pick Up" rather than shipping, go to store, ask them to cancel the order and let you pay full price, they will honor that and you will be out the door with a brand new iPhone 6/6+ that is compatible with the big 3 networks.

TO ALL OF YOU THAT WANT THE PHONE TO EVER WORK ON VERIZON / T-Mobile / AT&T without any time wasted ON QUESTIONING THE DEVICES CAPABILITIES AND TO ELIMINATE ALL WHAT IF's OR BUT's then please stop wasting your time and others and go buy the VERIZON iPhone 6/6+ -- I SWEAR THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED A MILLION TIMES NOW SINCE iPHONE 5/5S CAME OUT.

Order by starting a new 2 year account, fill out all your info, choose pick up in store option at check out -- BUT make sure that the store that you are placing your order with has the device in STOCK -- CHECK ONLINE -- I Did this for my brother 4 weeks ago.

GO TO STORE --) Tell Representative that you want to pay full price instead of getting the 2 year contract --) They will listen, if they don't, tell them that you already did this yesterday at another store --) Rep will look around and figure out how to get you what you want <<<<< this is because some reps are clueless and don't know what they are talking about -- so do not listen to them.

You will be a happy camper if you follow my advice to the fullest.
