im trying to figure out why splashtop suddenly decided to stop working on me. It finds my computer just fine when im on the local network but when im abroad and im using my computers actual IP, it cant find it. Every tutorial says to use ipconfig, but all that does is give me the local Ip such as 192.etc. All my ports are forwarded correctly, as I said with the same settings a couple weeks ago it was working flawlessly and now nothing. I guess all I am really looking for is a place to start with trying to find some sort of solution. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure your router settings are correct? If you do not have a static IP or an IP reservation on your own local network, then it is possible your local machine has been assigned a different IP by your router/DHCP server, compared to the one it had when you set up the port forwarding. This would mean your VNC packets are being forwarded nowhere, or to the wrong computer.

Some routers allow the use of a hostname instead of an IP address.

If you are sure that your local settings are correct, and that you are using the correct global IP, then it is possible the external network you are using has blocked port 5900 or a bunch of ports.

Vnc

If you are using PPTP that can have problems in some locations.
Try using L2TP that may work where PPTP won't.
