Got my router up and running on my desktop. I connect from my PowerBook.

So why can't I connect to webpages? I enter my WPA pw. Signal strength is full. Safari tells me: "Safari can't find the server." Browsers on my desktop machine are able to connect to websites fine.

Does the desktop machine have the DNS servers entered manually? Your PowerBook may be expecting the DNS servers automatically but your router isn't throwing them out.

Things to check. Open Terminal and run these commands:-

ifconfig en1 <--to see whether you are getting an IP address

cat /etc/resolv.conf <--- to see whether your DNS servers are set up

Compare the results against the desktop to see what needs to be changed.
