Hi, I am a relatively new iPhone user. I want to buy more apps. Usually what month of the year do they go on sale? Is there a pattern?

You can also check MacNN for "App Deals" for both OS X & iOS. They seem to have a refreshed list daily, Monday thru Thursday. I've found quite a few good deals by checking there regularly.

Yep. Apple usually has apps that are on sale or are free on the featured page on the App Store. It's usually pretty easy to find the good deals.

Thanks. For

Thanks. Just curious. Why only Monday to Thursday?

My place to check is AppShopper.
As for a pattern, sometimes there seems to be one if you check the app's history.
Sometimes I run into apps that never go on sale, ever. One can say that too is a pattern.
And sometimes I see some traces of competition. Recently, when Hours 2 was released, Now Then went on sale briefly.

In case you understand some Dutch, AppleTips also has a line-up of apps on sale.

I also recommend AppShopper. Take advantage of the Wish List feature on the App Store too, just because it's easy to manage. It won't notify you or anything, but I usually kick stuff off the list as I get less interested in it.

Lately there's been weekly deals listed in the bottom part of the App Store, stuff like IAPs in apps going on sale (like to unlock the full app, camera apps for example [Like Replay]), and some game deals.

As for patterns - September, December, and January are the big ones. But there's always stuff during the year, and if you hang around places like MacRumors you'll hear about some of the outside promos developers get together and do.
