I only have around 2gb left on my Mac's internal drive so I’ve had to resort to using an external drive as the destination of my downloads. I’ve changed the settings in uTorrent and made sure that the destination is on the external hard drive. When I add a torrent it will automatically place it on the external hard drive and it downloads and uploads correctly. But when it restarts or returns from sleep, uTorrent says: Error: Can’t open... or Error: Invalid download state... But the external hard drive is still connected the same.

I’m not too sure if I need to change some more settings or something, would anyone be able to help please?

Thanks

When your mac sleeps it disconnects the external drive, and corrupts the torrent. Use the caffeine app to keep your mac awake during the download. It
works for me.

Caffeine can be found in the app store for free.

thanks santa rosa,

is there a way of keeping it working even if it sleeps or reboots? I would like to be able to keep uploading the files that's all...

I'd play with power setting to keep the machine on while downloading.

Thanks guys,
But I would really like to be able to have it keep working if it gets restarted, so I can upload torrents from the external drive in the longer-term. Does anyone know if this is possible please?
