So Cal
I was going to add to the main sticky thread about "What case did you get..." but decided this deserves its own. I ordered two weeks ago the Vaja Cases Grip Case for my 12 Pro and received it today. I have been a customer of them for at least 20 years. This year's Grip Case is by far their best. I say that because in years past they had an open top (I believe prior to the 11 series). I liked the open top actually but the top corners didn’t always rise above the screen. It seemed like one side would always be flush and didn’t provide enough protection for me. But this new case provides great lip protection all around. The fit is perfect. A little tight to put on initially, but perfect all around. The leather is beautiful and looks great in combination with my blue 12 Pro. I love the open button areas and the open bottom. First of all it allows me to see the beautiful blue sides of my phone. I also prefer the open bottom. When I wipe off the screen there is an exit point, and I'm not just pushing dust particles into either the top or bottom of the case. (Yes I suffer from being slightly OCD.) It also allows me to insert my 12 Pro into my Kishi game controller, which the closed bottom Apple leather case didn’t allow.

The best part of this case is it is a MagSafe case. I was worried it wouldn't be the same as Apple's cases. I am super happy to report that they nailed it. The MagSafe charger and the MagSafe wallet attach exactly the same as on a bare 12 series phone and the same as on Apple's cases. The strength of the magnets seem identical. They even included the NFC chip because you get the same notification when you attach a MagSafe item (charger or Wallet) to your iPhone. The only minor difference is when putting my iPhone into the case initially, I didn’t get a chime like with Apple's cases.

All in all, this is a great case. I am super happy with it. Here are a few photos:

Yeah, I always do the same thing and buy too many cases. I do have an Apple leather case. I don’t think I'll give up the Vaja Grip for anything now.

just to say, as I use it more and more I am really liking this case. The fit and feel is great. and imo it looks great.

thank you for the review, I had posted a topic about similar to the pitaka air but leather and this is it.

Thanks of the pictures and review! Been thinking of getting this case myself. Do you have any pictures of the case with a MagSafe wallet attached? I'm trying to get an idea of how it'll look together.

I've been eying a wallet from GeometricGood on Etsy--they have a leather wallet that has similar grain pattern. Here is a link in case anyone is interested: Geometric Goods

vajas quality is second to none. Great purchase, I just don’t like that type of leather. I like a smoother look But that’s just on the buyer.

the floater leather is the main grainy leather. but if you do a custom order you can choose the bridge leather and that is smoother. i personally like the grainy leather look.

Nothing like the smell of opening a new Vaja case just received in the mail. :p
It's been a minute since I've purchased one though.

Does the main grainy leather have more of a grip than the smoother one?
yes. i have bought both. the grainy leather on the “ready to ship” cases has a slight more grip. if you have both side to side you can tell the difference.

edit: but to be fair, both are slippery like all or most leather cases.

Received my Vaja MagSafe case for my 12 Pro today and it’s really beautiful. Fit is perfect and my MagSafe accessories and charge connect and hold as well as with the Apple leather case. Haven’t had a Vaja case for years but really happy I got this.
