I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but there are now "vaping" ads on the site. I inadvertently clicked one this morning-it was a picture that kind of looked like some sort of USB drive and only said something about "get ready to be vaporized" (or something along those lines). I thought it was some techno bauble and followed the link-instead it took me to a vaping site which was not optimal since my company's filter flagged me as going to a tobacco site.

I won't get into my thoughts on "vaping" or tobacco/etc., but IMO if you're going to display grey-area ads such as this, you might want to make sure they clearly show what they're for. Personally, I don't think they have any business on a tech site, but who am I to judge?

From our FAQ:

What do I do about annoying ads?
MacRumors uses an advertising service that supplies ads from a pool. We do not select the specific ads shown or the specific advertisers who participate.

If you find a particular ad especially annoying (e.g., an ad that is oversized, obscures the page, moves around, has sound, or promoted a shady business), post a screenshot in our Site and Forum Feedbackforum and tell us which URL it links to. If we know that, we can ask to have it removed from the ad pool. Since ads may come from different sources, or come in different forms, we sometimes have to remove several variations. We appreciate your help in reporting them.

We need to pay the bills, so advertising is necessary. However, we suppress ads for our paid members. If that interests you, see How do I contribute to MacRumors.com? or go directly to your Account Upgradespage.
