Nothing is official, just a rumour but if the m6 ipad pro needs VC then also the Macs will need...starting with the M6 Macbook air since for the M5 Macbook air is too late
Probably not, remember the air has more physical space to distribute and dissipate heat in contrast to an iPad Pro.

This will be one of those distinguishing factors for the pro line, like Oled, HDR, promotion etc.

I have a MKB for my M5 Pro. When it’s time for work, it’s docked. When it’s time for leisure, it’s on the Smart Folio and used as a tablet.

I said it earlier this month. With the 17 pro/Max adopting Vapor chamber, it's the just the beginning. Since every product in Apple's line-up is built on aluminum [with higher end materials based on buyer choice], it's easy for Apple to see the reception and how it Performs.

its not a matter of if, but when. Both the iPad Pro and MacBook Air's will have a vapor chamber at some point.

I wonder if Apple ever explored a thunderbolt MKB to provide more ports. If so, they probably determined that cost would reach the tipping point.

Having migrated through more iPads than expected the past few years, the worst part was wasted Smart Folios which at least Apple will recycle, I'm not buying one for the M5 (I find the folio edges too sharp anyhow. I miss the leather Smart Covers).

Would be nice for the M5 or M6 MacBook Air to get this in order to enable the use of a Pro chip option (even if binned)

That's not how that works. The vapour chamber can only dump heat into the chassis of the laptop. Once the chassis is heat soaked, it makes literally no difference.

And actually it's worse than that - when I say the chassis is heat soaked, I mean it's limited by how hot a device like the MacBook Air is allowed to get on the parts the user can touch. This is the true limit of the MacBook Air's cooling. The chip will throttle to stop the MacBook Air from getting too hot to the touch.

A vapour chamber does not impact this at all.

M5 Chip with a big Vapor chamber in a new iPad Pro would be a game changer. This is a must have feature in the upcoming iPad Pro.
Despite video rendering, very demanding games (Resident Evil, Death Stranding), and benchmarks, the iPad doesn't heat up.
I think I've done something really great.

M5 is behaving exactly like M4, that is better than M1 and M2, because of the copper plate Apple added near the apple logo and probably more efficient chip. Not a vapor chamber, but still a clear improvement over M1/M2
