For me I have no problem with the reception. But I also don't really have any reception issues with most of the aluminum cases that I bought.

Any problem with scratching? How do you keep these things from scratching the metal ring underneath?

Most of these aluminum cases have foam inside to protect your phone. I also have the bodyguardz full body installed so I don't worry about scratches.

UPDATE

i received my red and black case and it looks pretty sharp!

feels nice to touch.

I think where the problem can exist with the cell signal is the application of the foam pads on the insides of the casing.

It comes with adhesives that YOU must add to the insides.

If you don't properly apply these then the metal will touch.

Now with my jailbroken phone i was able to see no degradation of signal.

that said Just like the Real Vapors - The port is so ***** small it wont even work with my bmw ipod link, old ipod cables, or my kensington car charger

lol - soooooooooooooooo

i'm going to take a drill and hog the bottom hole a bit bigger.

I think it's so stupid that Vapor and this knockoff slimmed the opening.

I also have matte spray paint so i'll just repaint it.

anyways - it looks hot - i'll post up photos soon - :D

Come again? You have to apply the foam protectors yourself?

Pics before and after paint would be appreciated.

Ok, thanks. Yeah I bought an anodized vapor knockoff from a US seller. We'll see how it is.

Which one did you bought? Is it the ones that you had a link to it in the stainless steel back thread? That one looks like it doesn't comes with the power button though.

does this site host photos?

sorry nancy i wont have time to go upload them up somewhere

but the little foam pads must be affixed on your own. i'm sure people can apply these haphazardly

anyways - i tried to dremel the port opening larger and it was taking forever. Then noticed that if i continued to cut - i would have to cut down to 1/32" of an inch on both sides of the bottom eccessentially destroying the case entirely.

So with the vapor and this knockoff i imagine it was a design necessity that they made the port opening small only for the newer cables.

i gave up and resprayed it. I'm going to see about just dremeling my car kit ipod cable since it's plastic and not metal like the case.

honestly i hope this is worth it lol

it's testing my patience .

It doesn't. I think it's a vapor knockoff except for that bit. The gap looks like it's pretty big, though, so unless not having the power button itself protected is a major issue, it shouldn't be annoying.

Yea it's nothing annoying about it. I just prefer it with the power button:)

Mine just came today also but I got the cnc machined ones. The finish is exactly like the Vapor 007. No signal issues whatsoever just like my old vapor ones .Overall I'm very satisfied with the case.

Do you have a link to one of these?

anyone know of any cheapo atomic knockoffs?

also i cant find any CNC vapor knockoffs on ebay under $50. i think i might try one of the zinc ones. only problem is i cant find a silver colored one

From the site:
The Ultimate iPhone 4 Case! Razor Edge is proud to introduce the all new Hybrid Composite case. Made from a Delrin and Graphite composite frame coupled with T6 Billet Aluminum cap, our new hybrid composite case for iPhone4 is Signal, GPS, and Data Friendly. The Razor Edge Hybrid Composite case is lighter (only 15 grams,) stronger, and retains the overall look and feel of our original Billet design. Kit comes with the Metal Bumper, 6 Screws (2 extras), Wrench for installing, Bonus Screen Protectors (for Front & Back), and a High Quality Cloth.

From the other thread about this supposedly Atomic "knockoff", johnnybegood posted :

Buyer beware, even though the description claims it's a hybrid I emailed to confirm and this
was the responses I got.

"It's Aluminum / Zinc. *The aluminum / delrin is essentially plastic. *It looks and feels cheap. *Ours is a mix of aluminum, zinc and is anodized. *All this gives it that solid metal feel without the major problems that the Aluminum only bumpers had. *If you are not satisfied, you can return it for your money bac. *Just make sure to keep the box and alle pieces it comes with such as the button and extra screws."

I'm sure that when VZW gets the iPhone 4 Apple will have corrected the antenna problem. They are being re-manufactured to fit the CDMA format and if Apple doesn't correct the problem, the're pretty stupid. Biggest blunder of the year according to CNN, so I'm sure that doesn't sit too well with Apple. Once corrected, you will probably be able to use a full aluminum case and not a composite.;)
