On several sites, including here, I am unable to type in a text entry field on my iPP using my Magic Keyboard. To type this right now, I’ve detached the iPad and am using the onscreen keyboard without any issues. With the keyboard attached, the cursor will briefly appear in the text field, and if I quickly tap a key, a letter will appear, but the cursor quickly disappears and no further letters can be entered. On one site, I was able to just slowly tap the letter keys, and the cursor would remain and letters would appear. If I sped up, no other letters would appear. On this site, typing slower has no effect. This may also affect other hardware keyboards for the iPads. I’ve also had various other issues in Safari on multiple sites. I’ve not seen this behavior prior to beta 5. The device has been restarted twice.

As posted in iOS 27 developer beta 6 post:
On the Magic Keyboard:
Built in keyboard first pops up, and typing is constantly being hidden by on screen keyboard and sliding up so as to cover what you are typing
When placing curser in this field it shows very very lightly and thin
Difficult to see what you are typing, but you can type
Can not highlight text with Magic Keyboard for copy and paste
When removed from Magic Keyboard on screen keyboard functions well

When access this site safari not the Macrumors app all works fine with the Magic Keyboard

All this seems fixed in developer beta 6. No issues with Magic Keyboard or onscreen keyboard. A very welcome relief.

When accessing via safari no problem. When using the MacRumors saved to Home Screen as web app the problem still exists for me. I’m going to try deleting the web app and reloading it as not a web app. Tried and all is fine now when adding to Home Screen and not opening as a web act.

I was curious so I saved Macrumors as a web app to my Home Screen. It launched and after navigating to this thread I’m replying to your post. No issues either way for me—web app or Safari bookmark. Maybe try restarting your device. All is good here on my end.

I deleted the old web app. I re-downloaded the web app version, it is working with the key board now. The on screen still pops up when I start, but I can dismiss it with no ill effects. Thank for the suggestion. Don’t know why but the web app version that I was using dates back to the time of Amazing Grace’s coining the computer phrase “bug”, I date back a little.

Public Beta 4 dropped this morning, so the text input issue should be gone for those who don’t want to use the Developer Beta for some reason. Good job on the relatively quick fix.
