Anyone on the forum here have the latest Mac OS Ventura installed on a 2018 Mac Mini i3 (8gb ram / 128 SSD)? If so, how's it running and is it worth upgrading from Big Sur?

Thinking of taking the plunge but looking for some feedback before doing so.

I've the exact same mini as you and Ventura runs fine. I'm using my mini as a music server so nothing intensive.

FWIW, Ventura runs OK on my 2017 Core m3 MacBook. Your 2020 i3 MacBook Air is 40%+ faster than my m3.

Geekbench 5:
790/1600 - m3-7Y32
1100/2380 - i3-1000NG4

Mind you, I have 16 GB RAM, but 8 GB is fine if you're not heavily multitasking or loading a bazillion browser tabs. I have Monterey on a 2014 Mac mini with 8 GB + SSD and it is fine for light to moderate business productivity.

Your 2018 i3 Mac mini is roughly twice as fast as my m3 MacBook.

Thanks. Yeah was going to say wrong computer, but you've corrected. So for basic tasks, nothing too intensive, Ventura on an i3 Mac Mini should run just fine then. Looking to upgrade this weekend at some point.

I have this exact same spec as my work machine...base model 2018 Mini running Ventura...i3, 8GB, 128GB. At any given time, I have mail, calendar, Teams, and 8-10 tabs in Safari open...runs like a charm!
