Ventura - Unable to type symbols on iPad with Universal Control

Is anybody else having this issue?

It looks like when I set up Universal Control to use my MacBook with my iPad Pro M2, it doesn't recognize that I'm holding the shift key and I can't type any symbols. Makes it pretty useless for typing on.

Just wanted to make sure this is actually a bug and not something dumb that I'm doing.
