I keep getting this message when I try to Verify Disk:

"Checking Extents Overflow file.

Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

It won't let me repair. Can you tell me what this all means?

It means you either need to start from the OSX discs, use Disk Utility and repair the disk ASAP, or use fsck if you can't find the discs. 🙂
