If you do an internet connection sharing over an ad hoc network it would be possible... As far as setting it up, google is your friend.

Or look into upgrading to a Verizon MiFi. Works great with the iPad.

Don't know *exactly* about your setup....we were issued new Blackberry Tours from work (blech) downloaed tetherberry and using my MBP I can share my internet with the iPad (USB or Bluetooth). Works like a champ.
