iPad Verizon back order charge question

Ok I have a question. I’m trying to get the iPad 2021 512gb space grey. The thing is it’s back ordered till 7-13. I’ve added it to my cart but it wants me to pay the tax and down payment. It says due today. Will it charge me today for that or until it ships. Don’t really wanna pay that is I’m not getting it for another two months. Thanks in advance. I remember when I orders the I phone 12 on preorder. I don’t think it charged me or did they change their policy.

I know some credit cards are different, but they either charge the tax amount or $1 (to determine if banking is legit)... Then disappears in a day or two. But you’ll get charged when it ships.

when I preordered mine I used my amex card to pay for it. At that time I was charged for the tax and down payment then, but the charge dropped off after 5 business days.

Ok thanks. I decided to go with the 256. I’m giving the other to my girlfriend. An iPad Pro 2018. I figured the 512 is overkill. I’ve only used 49 of the 256 lol
