Hey

Ive noticed the past few days that VZWs data has just been *incredibly* slow.

Any ideas what I can do? Trying to figure out if it's merely a setting. Never had this issue with my Droid. It's so bad it's barely usable.

Yeah, mines bad. Time for some WiFi. :)

Fortunately in my area Verizon is quite good. Not as fast as my AT&T service, but not bad at all.

Im in DC with Verizon. I haven't had any issues. Not as fast as the 4G speed with the G2x that I had ion T-mobile, but not slow at all.

I know they said that if you go over 2GB and your on the unlimited plan then they will throttle your data speeds for this month and next month. That could be why your speeds are slow.

It's actually been pretty snappy for me.

Ran a couple speed tests earlier today at 7:50 , each one was in the 2.05-2.20 mbps range for downloading. Uploading was only .95 each time.

Well I know I went over 2GB on the Unlimited plan; I hit 2.7.

When I did call though they didn't mention anything about it.. and in viewing my account she said it seemed fine (I did ask about possible throttling)

Just did a test and my fast data speeds have returned. Maybe something up with Verizon.

yep, it is known that Verizon 3G network for iphone is SLOW...

There are many articles in comparison with ATT, Verizon, and Sprint.

Here is the ranking:

1. ATT
2. Verizon
3. Sprint

I used to have great Verizon service at my house (or so it seemed), what happened??

Try dialing *228 and pressing 2 when prompted. Sometimes when my data is dog slow, this will work. It does a service update aka re-pinging available towers

You won't notice anything unless your in a congested site.. just looked up Verizon 3G throttling.. Here's what they said:

Unlike AT&T, however, Verizon’s latest efforts do not affect 4G LTE network subscribers, and will only target those with 3G data on an unlimited data plan, which is no longer offered by the carrier. Customers on tiered 3G data plans are also not affected.

Verizon Wireless is always looking for ways to give customers the superior experience they expect from our network – an amazing resource that – shared by tens of millions of customers. To achieve this, customers within the top 5% of Verizon Wireless data users, may have their data speeds periodically reduced. This reduction will last for the remainder of the current billing cycle as well as the one immediately following. This is to make sure all users enjoy high quality network performance even when on a congested cell site
