I have to say I am thoroughly disappointed with VZW of late. I've been a long-time customer since Nextel folded their direct connect feature back in the 2000's. Everyone I worked with had the DC feature and our radios sucked (they still do) and we used this as an alternate solution.

Anyway, back to VZW. I have the absolute BEST consumer plan and handset VZW sells. I have the "Get More" plan with an iPhone 14PM. Gotta say I am consistently UNDERwhelmed with the quality of the voice and data service from VZW. I sometimes get the 5G uw service but when I do it's absolutely terrible. I was at a doctor's visit on my lunch break on Monday over by the hospital and while I was waiting decided to check my work email on my device. I saw I was in the "uw" coverage are and was expecting to see at least decent speeds. No dice. It was sub 1Mbps with a full signal. Most of the places I see the 'uw" signal the speed is far worse than the 4G LTE speeds. This is in the areas that are in the new "C band" deployments. A few places I go have the mm wave (like the beach, or the local sports complex) and that is absolutely blazingly fast. But how often do I use that? the 4g LTE speeds are consistently faster that the regular 5G speeds. The coverage at my office is spotty at best, and I have to tell people to call my desk phone if they want to talk to me. A lot of my coworkers who use VZW have the same complaints. The service just isn't what it used to be.

Currently, I stick with VZW because the land based broadband options in my area are Comcast and Fios. Comcast's wireless is a MVNO of Verizon Wireless ANYWAY so if I don't want to get gouged on my broadband, and since I bundle I get my Fios for $24/mo. I get a first responder discount from VZW for my mobile, and my plan includes Apple Music and Hulu, which we do use. I also get better network priority by being a VZW customer as opposed to on a MVNO. I also have GETS/WPS through work for voice/land line calls.

I wouldn't recommend VZW's service to anyone outright as a stand-alone product these days. VZW used to be THE company that had the best coverage (I'm in the Northeast Megalopolis) but talking to friends I work with and other people in my line of work, a lot of them are migrating to T-mobile or AT&T/First Net.
As always location, location, location.

Spot on. Why do they always punish the singles or couples. Gotta hunt just to find more users so you don't have to pay almost $100 for one line. Only one I saw that was cool is Spotify with the Duo Plan

I'm stuck in a position where I'm in a (relatively) great 8 GB/mo plan from Verizon for my wife and I. It's cost effective, it's all high-speed data within our cap, and we can easily remain within that cap the vast majority of the time. Unfortunately, that type of plan is retired and legacy. Now, our kids are growing up and we might need to add a couple of phones. Which will push us to "unlimited" plans. At least the "unlimited" plans now seem to document much better how much of that is high-speed (in the past when I looked, it was governed by vague small print). But I will be paying a lot more for a little more. So... my situation as a couple is good. But growing to larger family is going to be costly.

Or you could sign up for Visible, be on the same Verizon network have Taxes and Fees included in the $30 price and not be stuck at needing 4 lines or more to get the best price.
I've had visbile for over a year and besides the non existant customer service, had no issues and only pay $25, and most recently the paypal $5 discount for the newer plans with better signal works a treat. I've had verzion for over a year too as a single person I was paying dearly over $165 a month after fees and taxes for just one phone. Stay away from verizon if you can't be part of a family plan its not worth it they are practically scamming you same with the other big 3 carriers att and tmobile

Protrip - If you use PayPal for Visible, then you can $5 off. So Visible is $25, and Visible+ for $40 respectively.

If your phone supports esims, then you can instantly activate and try out the service.

The old plans were awful, the new unlimited with all the perks are pretty good. If one uses a lot of data and uses the perks. Fees are state and local issues. My Get More 1st version plan includes unlimited 5g home internet add on, Apple Music, Disney plus, Hulu, ESPN plus, Netflix premium and NFL premium add on for 1 year, free Echo Show 10 for $122/month plus other perks I don’t use.

To get access to Verizon's higher speed 5G network Ultra Wideband you to be on Verizons Do More plan at $70 a month ($80 without autopay) + taxes and fees, this gives you 50GB of premium network data.

OR.

You can go to the $45 Visible plan, get access to Ultra Wideband, the same 50GB of premium network data, taxes and fees included in the price and a bunch of other stuff. For 99% of people this is the better option.
Note, that on Verizon postpaid, the 50GB does not apply to 5GUW it will only apply to 4G or low band 5G. If you are on 5G UW it is truly unlimited.

I can’t believe wireless companies and how many types of unlimited plans they offer now at so many different levels of limitations 🙄 when will it end. You would think an unlimited plan would only have one be type.

Was a Verizon customer for 7 years. Started with an unlimited plan, then dropped down to the 10GB plan shared across 2 lines because we weren't using enough data to make a case for the higher priced unlimited back then. Aside from the deterioration of coverage, data speeds, and customer service, the final straw was when they sent an email saying customers on our shared data plan would now be charged an addition amount monthly starting with the next bill. Switched to T-Mobile, upgraded our 11's to 13's, saving $50 per month (even with the phones) and the service is similar to Verizon. At the very least, it wasn't worth it for us to keep Verizon for the rare times we leave the city. (I will agree that Verizon's service is BY FAR the best in rural areas that don't get signal with other carriers!)

Just confirmed with Verizon that this promotion only applies to new accounts and that you cannot have anyone leave or the discount ends. Existing customers are out of luck. There are also having a similar promotion if you are a teacher/nurse/FR/etc but same applies there where you need to be a new customer.

Alternately the teacher discount is $20 off your total monthly bill (not per line) for regular 5G unlimited plans, but those are quite a bit more.

I am going to stick to my 10GB shared monthly plan for now until they provide a similar promo to existing customers. Being on wifi most of the time we don't really need unlimited.

I’ve used Visible before, they use a Cloud based layer makes their ping suck, they also deprioritize your data often. I prefer USMobile their Warp 5G sim run on Verizon and pings are much better, also No data deprioritizing, and also access to mmWave & C-band. They also give 20% discount to students.

Agree! US Mobile is phenomenal. And their customer service is speedy.

My understanding is that "recently" (for some fairly wide value of recently) Visible switched from using just a few entry points to the Verizon network, to using the same method that Verizon uses, so the ping time problem largely went away.

(I looked at Visible and Mint and went up going with Mint, which is fine for my needs and a lot cheaper than Visible.)
