iPhone 12 Verizon eSIM Transfer

The eSIM transfer did not work with Verizon but I was able to use chat to get my eSIM activated on 12 Pro Max. All they needed was the digital IMEI

Do you also have an activated physical sim with a different carrier? Trying to figure out what the consistent pattern is here... Thanks.

Just updating with my experience: the quick esim transfer was not supported, as other people have encountered too. However, I was able to get it activated by calling into Verizon and giving them my eSIM IMEI
Will ask the same question of you...

On my 12 Pro Max, I had a physical SIM in the phone when it arrived....I did the quick transfer between my old 11 Pro and the new phone.
After the reboot when the transfer was complete, it showed 2 plans....both Verizon....both with my phone number.
I powered the 12 down, ejected the physical SIM, and booted back up....All is working fine on eSIM with no physical SIM n the phone.......
I did turn cellular off on my 11 before booting the 12 for the first time.....

So both physical and esim are Verizon?

Update on my end. Yesterday I finally got to a tech who understood that my 12 Pro Max was incorrectly not in their database. The Digital IMEI was showing up as a physical IMEI. He put in a request to have that fixed and texted me his direct number. I texted him today to ask if there was any update. He called shortly thereafter to say he had gotten word the database was corrected and initiated the activation. It worked as planned and I'm now up and running.

One thing I wonder about... These last two years I have been on the iPhone Upgrade Program and you must specify a carrier for that. Since AT&T is the physical SIM carrier, I have specified AT&T. I wonder if those devices do not automatically show up in the database correctly, whereas maybe others who have had success out of the box were on either Verizon-preferenced devices, or on SIM-free phones?

Anyway, the good news is this year it took only 3 days, versus about 6 weeks last year to fix this.

Now I just need Apple to update the phone to allow 5G on dual service phones...

So both physical and esim are Verizon?
Yeah, it was weird, and both listed as primary....???
When I removed the physical and booted the phone, it came up on the eSIM and has been working great since...5G and all....
I'm not going to complain. Not sure how that happened or worked, but I'll take it vs trying to get it moved from physical to eSIM with a verizon rep.....that process can be.....tedious......
Now I can put the work sim in once Apple releases the update to allow 5G with dual SIMs.

Interesting... Seems like maybe having Verizon on both sims smooths things a bit. Presumably they already would have the phone in their database if they physical sim was associated. But that's just guessing.

As an aside, I was messing around in NYC with speed tests under 5G and LTE on AT&T to see what I'm missing when I enable both sims at the same time (and can't use 5G). The difference is reasonably modest, so I'm keeping both sims active for now. Also, my Verizon esim is really for backup when my AT&T data is poor. So I don't have 5G on Verizon and can't play with the mmWave.
