** The following applies to any current VZ iPad2 migrating to a warranty/replacement iPad2, or to The New iPad aka iPad3 **
When I took my new iPad out of the box and went to the Cellular Data page to re-activate my account, it prompted me to sign up for a new account entirely. I figured there would be an option to simply sign in and migrate my old account - there is not. Verizon needs to do this for you and thankfully the process is quick and painless. There is no need to cancel your prior prepaid account and start a new prepaid account by following this method.
The Fix:
The Verizon prepaid support # to call is 888-294-6804, option 2. They will ask you for your old iPad2 phone number which you will be able to pull by logging into the Verizon account area on your iPad or from the original email from Verizon when you activated your iPad. The Verizon rep I talked with was very knowledgeable even though they just provided these instructions recently for the new wave of iPad+4G LTE devices.
The support rep will have you read a few settings from your new iPad, reset a network feature on the iPad, power down, and eject the SIM tray (But no need to actually remove the SIM card itself). Rep also told me the migration method is preferred vs cancelling your old account on the old iPad and starting fresh.
Then when you boot back up, you are back in action for 3G on your new iPad - but keep in mind this took a few minutes normal than longer due to the sheer amount of activations taking place with the new iPad.
You will only have 3G service until your next prepaid month begins. Then 4G LTE will be active on whatever plan you have (I have 1GB/$20). I opted to prepay today ahead of my April x regular start date, and as of now I have 4G LTE speed and the logo showing in the upper-left hand corner of the iPad.
The following MacRumors post saved me a lot of trouble today, thanks guys and hope this helps others in the same situation that I was in today.
