We just picked up a brand new iPhone 12 Pro Max, and discovered the microphone is not working. When receiving a call from the new phone, the listener just hears a rush of static and noise. FaceTime video calls and Audio Memos get the same thing. Basically any attempt to use the phone's microphone just results in noise. You can't even hear the person trying to talk. I've tried hard resets and a fresh install of IOS 14.2 but nothing helps. Very frustrating for a $1,300 devices to be failing right out of the box.

I get it, it’s frustrating but things like this happen. Just swap it out for a new one. Apple is producing millions and millions of these phones, there are bound to be a few bad apples (no pun intended).

Price shouldn’t play a factor, $100,000 vehicles could be lemons as well.

The phone was returned to Apple and replaced, no questions asked. They had no explanation for what was up rather than the microphone was no good from the factory.

Yeah poo happens. Once I got an 8 Plus that was put together a hair crooked every way possible so that the lightning connector dock wouldn’t work. It was a strange looking phone once you looked closely.
