i restored my new Verizon iPhone 6 plus from my iphone 5 backup. the phone has the same amount of apps as iphone 5, and i'm using the 6+ same way as i did with the 5, but noticing i'm using more data on the 6+ compare to my iphone 5. anyone else noticed this? if so, do you know why?

Was it running the same IOS version, i.e., iOS8 on the iPhone 5?

I'd look towards some of the culprits like Facebook. You may have turned off a lot of the background stuff on that, like auto-playing videos which eats your data like its going out of style, and various notifications.

Its not the phone that's using more data, its the user that is using more data.
Go in to settings/cellular/cellular usage data and see what apps you used the most amount of data on.

How are you determining data usage?

i have verizon app that tells me how much of my 3G monthly data have i used up

that was the first thing i did right after i restored the new phone

Good.
Everything is listed there and shows what app used what amount of data.
You can also disable carrier data for certain apps if you want.
