And what makes you think that verizon would be any better? Their plans are similar to, if not worse than AT&T's plans.

For starters, if two carriers had the iPhone the plans maybe more competitive.

I want an iPhone, but i also have no problem waiting for the plan to be more reasonable. When you already pay extra for Data, i think its ridiculous to charge another 30 for family texting. I have spoken with my wallet and held out, i refuse to pay that much. I could see an extra 5 bucks if they just had to make a little more...thats about it though.

Maybe, one day, there will be a Verizon iPhone. Could be next month, could be next year, could be never. Whatever happens, you can be sure it will be in the best financial interest to Apple. So it all depends on what sweet exclusivity deals Apple can continue to get from AT&T, compared to what they would get selling CDMA phones on Verizon. I doubt even Steve Jobs knows right now what's going to happen, but I bet he has a CDMA prototype ready, just in case the next round of negotiations with AT&T fall through.

If a Verizon iPhone is in the works, it would be the best kept secret on earth, even more so than the Roswell UFO. So don't expect to get anything but speculation here, and a whole lot of flames.

Verizon does have unlimited free texting, to any carrier.

Meh.

Anyone with an data plan has that already. For free. Still, given that most mobile owners in the US seem to pay the carriers for SMSs anyways, I suppose it's a valid selling point.
