Isn’t that a carrier service. I have att and can’t, but a Verizon groupie told me he could(not verified). Also, I hear there is a way of setting a 000-000-0000 contact and blocking which is supposed to work. All I can say is I never get “no caller Id” calls, but I do get stupid spoophed calls
This could backfire. I know I've gotten several calls from the county (9/11 dispatch) at work from a all-0 number.

Rather than assigning motivations to companies you don't like, maybe consider that they've been working on the STIR/SHAKEN infrastructure, and finally have it working, and that's why the carriers are "suddenly" offering these filters.
As of 3/6, according to AP only T-Mobile has any STIR/SHAKEN going.

STIR/SHAKEN is implemented on the phone switch. Handset makers like Apple do not have to do anything.

Are you sure? There seems to be something related to handsets, as T-Mobile - which has started using STIR/SHAKEN - only has it on certain Samsung handsets. Google T-Mobile STIR/SHAKEN and there is an AP article from the beginning of March about it.

Super awesome that this doesn't work with any new iPhones o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O
This ONLY works with iPhone 5 through iPhone 6S - DOES NOT WORK WITH 7/8/X/XS/XR

Thanks for a great product rollout VZW - again - make this FREE like the AT&T version and make it available on new devices. You're always so anxious to upgrade us to new phones and now you don't support any device less than 3 years old?? F&*King idiots!

Works fine on my 8+

And as of 6/28, the article you're commenting on says Verizon is rolling out STIR/SHAKEN. The press release from Verizon, linked from the top of the article says, "this week, the company began deployment of STIR/SHAKEN caller ID technology as part of its network interconnections".

Installed on my max. Let’s see how this works going forward.

yea, this is free with t-mobile, and it's a blessing - so many scam calls it's insane. i get car insurance offers almost every day and i don't even own a car! nor do i have college loans...

"For Verizon customers, the free call filtering option will provide alerts when an incoming call is likely a spam caller,"

I would rather do this myself (if your phone can do it).... If there a 'convenient' alert service... it will soon turn into an 'annoying servic'e when Verizon floods you with messages.

Particularly if your one that gets 99% of spam calls.. ugh ...

You can disable that aspect of it if desired.

Does not work for me on an iPhone 8. Say unable to register, try later.
I have it on my iPhone 8 and my daughter has it on her iPhone X...

On my Xs, the app says you have to enable "call blocking & identification " in settings, but the option is not available. Seems like a fail on VZW's part.
Works on my iPhone 8 and my daughter's iPhone X..

I'm pretty happy with this also... I had one robo call the first afternoon I installed this, then zero in the three days since. I was getting three or four a day.

I wonder if there is of coincidence to the fact 4 Robo caller companies got fined? I also downloaded this, and surprisingly I’ve only gotten 1 the last 3 days whereas I averaged 5 per day.

FWIW, App Store has an update from a couple days ago, on the Verizon Call Filter app, and the release notes say:
  • Bug fix to address a known issue with authentication on e-SIM capable devices
So, if you tried and had e-SIM issues, take another look.

Sorry late to the game..... for those using it since some months have passed by, how is it working for you? iOS13 is providing a blocking setting for any call received not in the contacts list..... which would you use?

I use it and the App WideProtect. 98% reduction in calls. WideProtect lets you block whole area codes or just prefixes or single numbers, very effective.

Apple's is definitely the nuclear option, and has flaws

It really depends on how many legitimate calls you’ll be receiving from unknown numbers — like a business might

That being said I haven’t used Verizon’s, but just keep in mind that the two go about handling spam very differently
