Does anyone still use talk and text? I only get spam on my phone line. People that I want to receive calls or messages from use iMessage, FaceTime, signal, or WhatsApp.
That is pretty much all I use. I do so little with anything else I could probably live with <1GB of data easily.

why is it so hard for carriers to offer a reasonable price for a single line?

I don't know but it irritates me.

No Verizon...still won't cut it.
Nothing really different compared to what I have now. $55 (must be paperless bills, auto pay to get this price) 5GB..I have my rollover.

That's the same plan I have and even with their recent B.S. price increase, it's still cheaper than any of the unlimited plans that they are trying to force us into for "all the extra value" which is more B.S. I have never gone over 5GB and RARELY go over 2GB. Drop the "free" crap that's not free and just lower the price.

I saw this headline and was intrigued but then reading the article, it's more eye rolling. I'm over Verizon.

Consumer Cellular hasn't been mentioned here as far as I know. It's an MVNO and I pay $25/month for unlimited text and talk, but only 500MB of data. I am saving almost $25/month by shifting over to CC and have yet to exceed the data limit which would have increased my cost per month.

5 Mbps is hardly useless, and a lot of devices get 10 for some reason. I always got 10 on my iPhone 12 mini and 13 Pro when I had them, but my iPhone 11 Pro only got 5.
That's fair, useless may not be the proper word I'm looking for.

Interesting. I've only been with Visible for a few months so I haven't tested it on phones other than 12 mini and 13PM. The only thing I want Visible to add is data-only SIM/eSIM for cellular iPads.

I'm trying to figure out how I could work with only 500MB of data a month. I burned through a 2GB cap in less than two weeks. Even an app update would crush 500MB.

To each their own, I guess.

App updates are done over wifi as I sit at home evenings. I understand i am an outlier as to data usage. Those that use a lot of data need to look for the best deal when it comes to data. And there are better deals out there.

This article was specifically talking about "unlimited" postpaid plans. An unlimited plan for Consumer Cellular would be $55/month (1 line) with AutoPay. At that price, someone may be better off going with AT&T's "Value Plus" unlimited plan for $50/month with AutoPay.

If "unlimited data" isn't needed, there are certainly cheaper options out there. Consumer Cellular being one of them.

I had Verizon 5G when I was in south Florida. I got a new job in Hot Springs AR and the coverage sucked for 5G and LTE. So I did a little research and transferred to Mint Mobile and haven't looked back. 5G in all but a small area. Coverage great along the interstates. At home I didn't get good coverage with either but I'm wi-fi at that point so it was mute. $360/year on Mint with great coverage versus $960/year for crap coverage on Verizon.

Why is it so difficult for any phone carrier to give better rates for 2 lines of service rather than having them add more lines in order to supposedly get a lower bill. Which never seems that way at all seem like its more IMO. This why people go to MVNOs for the lower rates.

I have Visible, Verizon's MVNO, and it's $25/m for one line, no autopay, for the same thing. And it also has a hotspot, albeit nerfed to an almost useless speed. Major carrier phone plans are antiquated, not everyone is a family of six and able to get your advertised "starting at $49/m!"
I’ve been using Visible for about 10 months now. Once in a while I have to toggle Airplane mode for service to work, but for $25/month, I think it’s a great deal. Even let’s you use a cellular Apple Watch.

Yeah my wife uses the cellular watch. It's awesome having both of our service at $55/m

Had them not worth it the 25 bucks even with party. It's worst than my old 5g Start plan by Verizon. Moved over to US Mobile no deprioritized data full speed 75gb of full speed prioritized data. 30 bucks a month I pay 👍

Thankfully it works well for my area. I hate how you have to commit to a new cell plan to some extent before knowing whether the service in your area is worthwhile. I appreciated how Visible supports eSIM setup in minutes, with my 13PM I was up and running in minutes to test the data for a month before committing to it.

I'm glad you were able to find a better solution without costing an arm and a leg!

That’s fair. I don’t have much time with reliable Wi-Fi as I spend maybe 10% of my day at a desk.

Counting the days until my promo discounts pay off my phone and I can dump VZW and head back to T-Mob. Besides horrible coverage in my area (a random DC suburb, inexplicably awful signal), VZW's pricing is out of sight.

I've been using Visible for almost 2 years and the experience has been perfectly fine. I came from postpaid Verizon and the only difference I've noticed is that the hotspot speed is slower... but it works fine for my uses - including tethering my mac for video calls.

You need to do everything via the Visible website OR the Visible app (which can issue an esim). You can always port out if the service doesn't work for you. Good luck!
Thanks. I'm really leaning towards this. Finally went to Verizon store yesterday, no cheaper plan from them.., not even close. It was all pushing a more expensive Unlimited plan. (What part of "Looking for a cheaper plan, no 'unlimited' do you not understand!?") This guy was kind of a smug jerk also.

I swear, I got home and immediately saw this email. It's like they are trolling me. Eh!!
"Just $15 more a month!" Oh just go away.

Exactly, RARELY go over 2GB a month also! 90% of the time I'm on WiFi.
Any photo, video I take...I don't upload MB's of data while I'm out, I'll wait until I get home.

Actually if they kept the little $3 a month "reward" for paying a bill on time - an Amazon GC, other tiny perks, then for myself this really would just be a $3 increase. But they remove all these little benefits...jack up the bill. It's just pure greed.

Agreed - Verizon customers probably just don’t realize magenta max exists and that the Sprint acquisition has really enhanced T-Mobile coverage. On the other hand Verizon is still better at security.

I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon 2 years ago, and couldn’t be happier. It was the best decision I could’ve made. On T-Mobile at work in certain neighborhoods and buildings, I would lose service and didn’t get it back until I left out of the buildings and neighborhoods. With Verizon I don’t have that problem, and only pay $5 more with Verizon than I did with T-Mobile, and I have better perks that I actually use with Verizon.

I still have my daughter on T-Mobile and it’s been working perfectly for her at $70 a month with everything included.

I’m in Maryland and have great 5G coverage in my area. T-Mobile was horrible for me which is why I switched 2 years ago. With my job, it’s imperative that I have a working phone with good service. With T-Mobile I was paranoid going to work in certain neighborhoods and buildings and my service with T-Mobile would be non-existent. I would have to cut my phone off and back on for my service to return once leaving the neighborhood and buildings.

With Verizon, I haven’t had that problem, and have been thoroughly pleased with my service and $100 or less phone bill. I’m paying $5 more than I did with T-Mobile and I had a government discount with T-Mobile.

I do miss the $3 up rewards we used to get every month. Even using the $3 towards Starbucks was beneficial for me.
