Verizon today announced a new promotion that's designed to encourage its customers to sign up for both Verizon Wireless cellular service and Verizon Fios internet and TV plans.

Verizon Fios customers who activate a new service on Verizon Unlimited will receive $250 in bill credits (applied as a $10 discount over 25 months), while Verizon Wireless customers can get a $250 Verizon Wireless gift card when signing up for a qualifying Triple Play Fios TV, internet, and phone package with a two-year agreement.

New customers can take advantage of both of the offers simultaneously for a total of $500 back during the promotion period.

Verizon's Triple Play Fios plans start at $80 per month for 150/150Mb/s internet, phone, and custom TV package. Verizon's new Unlimited cellular plan is priced at $80 per month for a single user.

This is upping the game again:). Love it. Fios isn't available here but I do like the competition!

So this is Verizon's response to T-Mobile's crazy new 3 lines of unlimited for $100/mo that launches tomorrow? HAH! I spoke with a rep yesterday—asked her if she could lower my bill or I'll switch to T-Mobile. Told her it would save me $38/mo. She said she could save me $5.84/mo if I went down to an 8GB data plan from my 25GB data plan. I laughed at her and hung up. BYE. This is pathetic. I think T-Mobile finally won this round of the mobile wars.

As far as pricing goes it's pretty much always been this way with T-Mobile (and Sprint) offering lower rates for more to be able to gather up more and more customers so that they could complete.

Same here ugh
and one of my close family members work for one of the biggest cable companies so we could get service for free, but we can't get it because they don't offer it in our area, so we pay for DirecTV

If only FiOS was in my area... we only have basic TWC (old speeds starting at like 15/1 and going to 50/5) or Verizon DSL. Or satellite. Ugh.

I can't believe it's taken this long for Verizon to do anything. They have owned wirless and home for what 10 years now ? Before anyone else owned both.

A little off topic but I'm going to vent anyway.

Since Verizon announced their unlimited plans, I've tried several times (4-5) to get them to waive their asinine activation fees so I could more easily switch from AT&T.

They refused.

So now that AT&T has a like-minded plan, I'm staying with them.

Verizon will be losing out on $3600 per year from me and my family plan because of the industry's stupid fee practices and their stubborn unwillingness to waive them to attract customers.

Pathetic.

I'll enjoy my AT&T plan. Eff you too, Verizon.

FiOs isn't available here. But I picked it up for my locations under their business plan. Quality, top notch service! My ISP is due to bump us to 330 Mbps and then 600 in late 2018. Useless for a lot of sites that limits connections and download speed.

Why would a Verizon wave your activation fees you're activating service on their network just like everyone has to be an activation fee you're not any more special than the next person stay with AT&T you're already with them if you're not willing to pay for an activation fee then you should just stay where you're at

Maybe that is the problem Verizon doesn't think he is special. Activation fees are bogus anyway. Charging people for service is one thing, charging people just to be a customer is another.

..except that their network coverage is hot garbage outside of major metro cities. I live right outside Chicago, and I can't use my T-Mo work phone inside of most buildings. Verizon will continue to do find as long as their network is far superior. This is why they don't have to compete with T-Mo penny for penny.

I'm referring to the back and forth competition throughout the month of February. It has been pretty wild lately. I know T-Mobile has always been lower, but this seems significant for people who have three lines like me—which usually get left out in the cold on two line and four line promotions which are usually better deals than what I can get on a price per phone basis. When you factor in that I'm already receiving a 20% Verizon discount through my work, the fact that it's still $38/mo lower is laughable. I'll be calling T-Mobile today to figure out how to best transition to their network, as my grandparents are the third line I pay and they are down in Florida for the winter, so I would need that sim to be picked up at a store near them.

Do you have a 6s or newer, or one of the latest Android phones? They take advantage of T-Mobile's 700MHz spectrum, which is what TV signals used to run on. It's supposedly a much better experience on newer devices. I've got two 7's and an SE on my plan, all unlocked, so I'm solid.

I haven't looked at Verizon Fios for a few years, but when I did here were the problems I had with it:
  • I live in a non-cable, DSL only area. By coverage map, I should be able to use Fios, but using my phone was hit and miss at home. I was told that if it didn't work reliably then it was my problem.
  • Data Caps. I forget what they were then, but I figured it was roughly equal to 10 downloaded movies. Maybe streaming isn't as data packed as actually downloading the movie, but if I'm replacing Dish or DirecTV, which I would want to do, then the cap was too small. They may have changed this.
  • This complaint is still true. Since I am currently a customer I don't qualify for a lot of the incentives. Dish and DirecTv do this as well, which is why we have bounced back and forth between those 2 services over the last 10 years.
I especially like getting the phone call from satellite company A about why we are leaving. I always try calling to see if we can pick up at least some of what they are offering to new customers, but the answer has always been no. I sometimes, during the 'why are you leaving call', I am told that if I agree to stay that they will offer those incentives. Since I have already committed to satellite company B, I say no.

I m afraid of more of the same type of treatment from Verizon, concerning Fios, when the contract is up, where the new customer incentives are enough to make me consider using Fios but the lack of a company B to provide competition means that I would need to restart satellite and DSL if they jack the price way up.
