Question for anyone in the northeast NJ or NY do you recommend att or Verizon for the 6s? I have att unlimited now with a 6 but they are raising rates and I'm ready for the 6s but I want to make the right carrier decision .

At this point their prices are close enough. Base your decision on coverage only. Are you getting good coverage for data/calling right now where you live, work and play on att? If so, stick with them. If not, maybe check details on verizon.
Check out "rootmetrics" and type in your zip codes.

Ok, they seem pretty equal so it's not easy to decide

What's your typical data usage for your phone? If you're using a lot of data moving over to Verizon may incur a higher cost due to a large data bucket requirement.

I use about 7 - 11 gb a month. Verizon will give me 14gb , att still unlimited for a extra 5 more per month

That's 7-11 using things today, who knows what changes you could see in 6 months. Maybe a new app comes out that you love to use and is very data intensive? For $5 saved, just ain't worth it.

If you still have AT&T UDP I would keep it. An extra $5/month may be virtually nothing compared to overages you might get otherwise. And AT&T UDP you get 22GB of data per month before they maybe throttle you. I would stay put for now.

I still think actual coverage where you live or where you actually use the phone is most important. I know of places where one vendor can be great and two blocks away rotten. Wish there was a device or? that you could take to your place and test signal strength.

Ok you all are right, thanks so much for the response's. I'll keep Att UDP , it will be cheaper and plus get a lot more data.

You would come out better buying a used excellent condition 6s from gazelle. With your 6 trade in you could pick it up for under 500, and stay with att. The jump between a 6 and 6s wasn't as big of a upgrade as I was hoping. If I had to do over I would have waited for the 7. Definitely wouldn't pay full price for a 6s this late in the game.
