As noted by The APPera and backed up by reports from our readers, Verizon's corporate-owned retail stores are unloading the last of their stocks of the first-generation iPad with bargain basement prices beginning at $299.99 for the 16 GB model. The 32 GB model comes in at $399.99 with the 64 GB model at $499.99. We've heard that stores are quickly selling through their stock at these prices and so availability may be spotty and customers should be sure that they visit corporate-owned stores for the special pricing as independent Verizon stores are not participating in the offer.

Verizon stores began selling the first-generation Wi-Fi iPad in late October, typically bundling the device with a MiFi mobile hotspot but also offering iPads on their own with no MiFi or data service required. With the launch of the second-generation iPad, Apple now offers CDMA models directly compatible with Verizon's network.

Late last week, AT&T slashed prices on 3G-capable first-generation iPads to $429-$629 with the carrier's online store dropping the 64 GB model even further to $529. As of this writing, AT&T's online store only has availability of 64 GB models at the $529 price point.

Wow, that's a good deal. Sort of silly that original iPad price is close to that of iPod touch though.

That almost makes me feel bad for selling a 16GB Wi-Fi only for $375 last week. oh well...I'm over it.

Don't feel bad I bought a first gen iPad right before the iPad 2 launch. I paid $500 for a 32GB 3G, and I still love it! Worth the money and will hold me over till iPad 3 retina display!

good deal, might get one for the wifey and kid..

I sold my ipad 1 for $529 a week before the ipad 2 was announced...

phew

Is there a catch to this deal? Do you have to buy a MiFi and sign up for some sort of data plan?
$299 is ridiculously tempting.

For some maybe, I have my finger on the trigger to order an iPad 2 3G tonight to compliment my MBA 11 and iPhone....bought the MBA about a month ago, it's great, but I miss the iPad...

Heading to the Verizon store down the street. They have 1 16gb left for $299. To good to pass up.

Nope, no catch. I just called the store down the street from me and it is $299 no catch for the 16gb. She did mention some service plan but said I just wanted the iPad and she said that is fine.

I can't wait till iPad2 is released in Canada.:D I'm already noticing ipad1 dropping like a rock. What is weird with the iPad is that it is dramatically loosing its value. A fan boy told me once that apple products hold their value.

Thanks for letting me know.

None of the stores around me (10+ stores) have the 16gb in stock. Any of you considering the 32GB for $399?

Glad I browse these forums at work. Just called my local Verizon and they're holding their last 16GB wifi for me. :D

I can't even get someone on craigslist to sell me their used one for this price!!

I'm already getting two iPad 2s for me & my wife & I saw this & wanted to get one for my daughter. My wife made a pretty good statement of "Do we need to go from no iPads to three in one house?"

Chalk up another version of "Wife said no."

Yeah this is a deal. I just called our local store and the guy said they're out of 16gbs nationally. Considering a 32...

Thinking about it, but its $50 more than I can get my wife to spend over the $349 refurb 16gig from Apple.com
